7/19/2023 0 Comments Laptop stuck in airplane mode![]() ![]() Use the switch on the front or side of the computer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability." <- The same as before.Īs before, I toggled the hardware switch and waited. When I troubelshoot the connection, I get the same error: "Turn on wireless capability. The icon tray popup window still shows Airplane mode and the the network status shows "Not connected". However!, the Airplane mode icon is still present in the icon tray and I am still unable to connect to any networks. There was a wait cursor circle, and after about 10 seconds, the Wi-Fi toggle turned On. That got me excited! The Wi-fi toggle was set to "Off", so I pressed it an toggled it to "On". However, now when I go to the Wi-Fi tab on the Settings app, the airplane mode toggle is gone, and the the Wi-Fi toggle is no longer grayed out. Regardless, I deleted the airplane power mode and rebooted. This makes me think it's not a power configuration mode it's a wi-fi mode. Note that the "Balanced" mode was already active, even though the airplane icon is still showing in the icon tray and wi-fi is disabled. When I used the powercfg command, three mode were listed: Airplane, Balanced, and Presentation. I guess it's possible that it's internally broken, but I don't see or feel any indication of it.ģ. ![]() ![]() I don't think I've ever used it in the past, except possibly by accident. The hardware switch does not appear to be stuck. I didn't change anything in BIOS or after the problem occurred.Ģ. I've looked around in the BIOS and I don't see anything related to Wi-Fi. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this further or how to fix, please help! Maybe I'm missing something simple?!ġ. I'm at a loss! I don't know what the problem is or where to go next. Uninstalled and re-installed the wifi driver. Tried both settings on the wifi enable /disable hardware switch on the side, then playing with Fn+F5 and clicking on the airplane mode icon tray popup. I can't seem to get the laptop out of airplane mode. When I view the device properties of the network adapter, the device status says "This device is working properly." And I've tried both settings on the power management tab about allowing the computer to turn the device off to save power. The Wireless devices toggle control is also grayed out and says "Off". When I go to Settings > Netowkr & Internet > Airplane mode, The Airplan mode toggle control is grayed out and says "On". When I right-click on the adapter and choose "connect / disconnect", it pops up the airplane mode icon tray popup. When I go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections, the Wi-fi icon is not grayed out, but it has a red X below it. Use the switch on the front or side of the computer, or function keys if available, to enable wireless capability on this computer." (Thanks!!!) When I run the Troubleshoot button, the popup tells me t "Turn on wireless capability. When I go to the Network & Internet settings window, the network status says, "Not connected" Function Key (Fn) + F5 doesn't appear to have any effect, regardless of wifi hardware switch setting or airplane icon tray popup mode (Wifi grayed out or not) ![]() Clicking on the Airplane mode square has no effect. If I click on the wi-fi square again, the grayed out mode changes back to non-grayed out, but doesn't appear to have any effect. The airplane icon remains and no Wifi icon appears in the tray. On this popup, clicking on the Wi-fi square makes it grayed out after a few seconds, but doesn't appear to have any effect. When I click on the airplane icon in the icon tray, popup says "Wi-Fi Turned Off" The wifi switch on the right hand side doesn't appear to have any effect. I had changed nothing that I'm aware of, and the previous day it worked fine. One day I opened up my T430s and it was in airplane mode: the airplane icon appears in the icon tray and the wifi was apparently disabled. ![]()
